The British are coming the British are....on South Willow Street in Manchester NH.
This past week a friend and decided to check on the British Beer Company for lunch.
(We went on a Monday and the place was empty. I guess most people work on Mondays, but luckily not us. We were seated promptly and the waitress took our drink's right away. The interior goes a long way to look like a British Pub, or at the very least what American's think a British pub looks like. It decorated with all of the typical British cliches but on the whole is well kept and clean. The outside does not quite fit in with the rest of South Willow. Although to be fair there is Cactus Jacks and Yee Dynasty maybe it is only fair the British start their own restaurant colonization.
The drinks were made well and served promptly. I had a Manhattan and my friend a Guinness. both were good and fairly priced. As an appetizer we ordered the Buffalo Chicken Dip. The dip was good with solid pieces of chicken. The only drawback was the portion was a little small and only tortilla chips and celery to dip with. It would have been nice to get some more options to dip and more of them, we had to ask for more chips which were promptly delivered.
For the main course I ordered a pizza. Not very British but hey pizza is always good. It was good but nothing spectacular. The roni pizza has plenty of peperoni but also plenty of grease. I am not one to shy away for the unhealthy elements of dining but it was excessive. My friend had the turkey bourbon burger the special of the day. He said it was good but the waitress never asked how he wanted it cooked nor said what the toppings were. The burger was covered in caramelized onions...which is awesome if you like onions he did not.
Overall our experience at the British Beer Company was good. The restaurant is clean. The service was prompt and friendly. The prices are in line with other restaurants in the area. The only drawbacks being those extra touches that bring a restaurant from good to great. The British Beer Company is a solid place for lunch on South Willow Street.
